Data archiving used to be seen very much within a large organisation’s remit and not for small companies. This is no longer the case. While small companies might not be required to adhere to Sarbanes-Oxley, the law extends to all individuals and organisations. That said, data archiving systems are not purely for the reason of compliance but if implemented properly will increase efficiency and potentially lower the cost of IT simply because information that doesn’t need to be stored won’t be. As a result, further expensive servers won’t be required in order to increase performance of a network and meet storage demands.
